Delhi Startup 'Note' Revolutionizes Pen Industry with Sustainable Vision

Plastic pens are everywhere and offers a convenient solution for writing. However, the plastic pens also contribute to environmental issues. Understanding the seriousness of the problems, Delhi-based startup ‘Note’ has come up with a sustainable alternative. It has introduced biodegradable pens.

Note was founded in 2018 by Saurabh Mehta and his wife Shivani Mehta. They wanted to desire to address the environmental impact of regular pens and emerged with an idea of making 100% biodegradable pens.

Initially they experimented with different materials and the early versions were made of paper. However, they still look ahead to replace the plastic in the refill mechanism. Following four years of hard work they created refill cartridges made of paper and treated with a special process using vegetable oil to stop ink leakage.

Note is committed to sustainability and it goes beyond just paper pens. The startup has introduced pens and pencils made from bamboo and marble. it is simultaneously expanding range of eco-friendly products.

The price range of Note is selling pens are priced between Rs 25 and Rs 500. The company aims to make the products affordable without compromising on sustainability. Saurabh Mehta hopes to further bring down the prices in the future.

Note has received support of a Rs 16 lakh as grant from the Startup India Seed Fund Scheme. It is using the money for developing the products. It has plans to seek more funding in the future to keep improving the products.

The commitment of Note shows us how innovative ideas and hard work can lead to sustainable solutions in unexpected areas. It has a promise of a greener world for future generations.
